The season for all things cosy is finally here; we can bundle up under a fluffy throw with a marshmallow hot chocolate, wear our warmest woollen mittens, visit a pumpkin patch and bake sweet treats like cinnamon apple crumbles…♡
October is a month of magic ~ the subtle change in the weather, crisp autumn air, freshly fallen leaves with golden amber hues, rosy red apples and heavenly scents of cinnamon and nutmeg whirling around the kitchen…
Today I’m sharing a guide on how to have the dreamiest autumnal afternoon that will leave you feeling as toasty as a warm cinnamon bun! Whether you decide to light a sweetly scented candle, bake a batch of mini pink pumpkin cakes or watch a fall movie with a toffee nut latte, there are so many ways to immerse yourself in the autumnal glow.
P.S I have also created a video to complement this post where I share mini tutorials on how I made a few of the treats featured.
Decor of Dreams ♡
Purchasing a pretty pumpkin
I found this stunning glass pink pumpkin in Home Sense and I couldn’t leave it behind! Finding pretty pink autumnal decor is so difficult but I love the simplicity of the design and the flecks of gold add a magical touch…
DIY Pink Pumpkins
Another activity I enjoy during this season is painting my own pumpkins in dreamy pastel shades.
I selected two ceramic pumpkins from Hobbycraft and decided to adorn them with dainty pearls and miniature bows for an added girly touch! I used the Pebeo acrylic paint in ‘Powder Pink for the pumpkins featured.
Pearls and Bows ♡
Soft Satin Ribbons ♡
You will need to paint two layers of paint on each pumpkin but you must wait until the first layer is dry before applying a second coat.
For the stalks I used a shimmery silver shade which adds a whimsical fairytale touch (very reminiscent of Cinderella’s carriage.) Once your pumpkins are dry you can start adding the decorations you desire!

Sweetly Scented Candles ♡
My favourite fall scent is the pumpkin soufflé candle which I purchased from Home Sense last year. The aroma is delightful and reminds me of freshly baked cinnamon cookies and cream. I recently purchased the Spiced White Cocoa candle which has warm swirls of cocoa topped with whipped cream and nutmeg. I’m also lusting after the Luscious Pumpkin Trifle Yankee Candle which sounds divine too with notes of vanilla cake, cinnamon, sweet cream and pumpkin.
My Autumn Bakery ♡
Manuela from the blog passionforbaking has inspired all my baking this month. Every recipe she creates is effortlessly pretty and dainty. I selected two recipes from her collection that would be ideal for Halloween or a cosy autumnal evening inside.
Mini Pink Pumpkin Cakes ♡
This darling set of miniature pumpkin cakes are the perfect spooky sweet treat for anyone who prefers a girly theme for Halloween.
Each cake consists of a vanilla sponge coated with sweet raspberry jam, dark chocolate sprinkles and whipped cream. Surrounding the layers there is a baby pink fondant which adds a feminine touch!
I will share a full recipe very soon but you can see a tutorial on how I assemble each layer in my latest video.
Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookies & Milk ♡
“Are you down for some of these milk and cookies…?”
This next recipe is so simple to create and the dreamiest delight to have with cold milk.
Manuela’s chocolate chip cookies are gooey, chewy and irresistible! You can enjoy them fresh out of the oven whilst they’re still warm; I decided to pour some oat milk into my beautiful swan mug from Sass and Belle.
I adore swans and when I saw this dreamy mug I knew I just had to have it. The stunning gold accents and pretty powder pink inside are so cute. I also love the sweet handle which takes the shape of an elegant swan with fluttery lashes and a rosy blush. I really want to purchase the matching bowl which is so adorable.
Apple and Cinnamon Topped Crumble ♡
Crumbles are one of my favourite classic autumnal sweet treats. They’re so simple and easy to create. Each step is a form of therapy for me; weighing the sugar and butter, combining them together to make a soft crumb texture and simmering the apples and cinnamon to create a heavenly aroma. I decided to use the recipe I followed last autumn which requires you to make and bake the crumble topping and apple filling separately. I find that this method works best to create an even bake. You can serve this delightful dessert with ice-cream or double cream for an extra indulgence.
I Love You A Latte… ♡
Pumpkin Spice and All Things Nice ♡
“I’ll have a Trenta, no foam, five-shot half-caf, no foam, pumpkin spice latte with no foam at 210 degrees.”
An autumnal afternoon wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Starbucks for their seasonal staple ~ a pumpkin spice latte! You can channel your inner Chanel Oberlin and indulge in a festive harmony of warm cinnamon, pumpkin and nutmeg! (extra points if you have yours with whipped cream)
If you are unable to take a trip to Starbucks for your pumpkin spice fix, you can always have your own at home! If you choose to make one from scratch, I would recommend my angel Najé’s Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe.
Toffee Nut Lattes ♡
I also felt inspired by the lovely Catherine and Karen to finally try my first ever toffee nut latte! The taste was an utterly divine combination of soft creamy toffee and hazelnut which I placed in my dainty swan mug.
A Marshmallow Moment ♡
Hot chocolates are a classic cosy drink. Whether you decide to make yours from scratch by melting your favourite chocolate or you use a few spoonfuls of hot chocolate powder, there are so many ways to create this sweet treat!
A hot chocolate wouldn’t be complete without fluffy marshmallows! I decided to serve mine in this darling Marie mug which I received last Christmas. It features Marie perched in her classic pose and even comes with an adorable miniature spoon which is just too cute.
Channelling Your Inner Chanel Oberlin ♡
Autumn is the perfect excuse for Scream Queens-inspired looks. With her memorable lines and a wardrobe that is to die for, Chanel Oberlin is my ultimate style inspiration. I always associate Chanel with pale pinks, faux fur and pearls, so the look I created pays homage to this.
Winter Warmers ♡
“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens..”
Wrapping up for the colder months is essential and I’m always on the lookout for pretty winter accessories…
The light pink shade and flecks of gold are such dreamy details and leave me feeling as soft as a snow bunny.
Bailey Button Poppy Ugg Boots ♡
The Bailey Button Poppy boots are presented in a soft pink shade that reminds of candy floss and the dainty flower detail adorning the corner is so pretty! They’re also made from a soft suede material with a sheepskin insole which should make them so fluffy and extra cosy for winter!
Snuggling Up ♡
Once you have created your sweet treats, lit a candle and adorned your bedroom with your pretty pink autumnal decor, there is nothing better than snuggling up with soft pieces that will make you feel as warm and toasty as a soft cinnamon bun.
My favourite place to find gems like this is Primark. A couple of weeks ago I picked up this cute baby lamb hot water bottle cover and a pair of fluffy slippers adorned with a delicate rose gold bow.
Bow Adorned Bubble Baths ♡
After a busy day at work, I always look forward to running myself a bath filled with the fluffiest bubbles and this ‘Spring Garden’ bubble bath is my current favourite.
I truly hope you have enjoyed this post fairies! I worked very hard on it and I’d love to hear what your perfect autumnal afternoon consists of?
I’m sending lots of love to you all,
Sophie Bethany Rose xo
