“Pink is the sweetest of all colours. Every woman should have something pink in her wardrobe. It is the colour of happiness and of femininity…” ~ Christian Dior ♡
Anyone who knows me well will be aware of my passion for pink. From the clothes I wear to the decor inside my bedroom, everything exists in a whimsical, rosy harmony of soft marshmallow and baby pinks.
As many of you share my adoration for pink, I thought I would dedicate this post to the little pink delights which have set my heart a-flutter during the month of July.
The Pink Pixie Diaries will be my instalment of all things enchanting and perfect for any lost princesses who need a dose of pink magic!
My Summer Bakery ♡
It has been a beautiful summer so far; pastel flowers are in bloom, ice-cream sundaes are ubiquitous and the weather is perfect for a picnic consisting of fondant fancies and rose lemonade.
With this sweet summertime feeling in abundance, I decided to whip up some scrumptious recipes. In April I went to the Peggy Porschen parlour in Belgravia for the very first time and during this visit I was inspired by the array of adorable sweet treats. Consequently, I decided to re-create their new ‘Summer Berries & Fleurs’ collection.
This range is laden with delights that appear to be plucked from a dainty rose fairy garden. Each cake or cookie evoke a summery “freshness and vibrancy” with their seasonal flavours and jewel-esque florals. I chose to base my creations on the ‘Eton Mess and Fleurs’ cupcake and their signature ‘Lemon, Raspberry and Rose’ layer cake.
My cupcakes consist of a sweet vanilla sponge filled with a fresh strawberry purée which is crowned with a soft vanilla bean frosting, drizzled in strawberry sauce and sprinkled with a helping of blossom sugar flowers and topped with a miniature rosewater meringue kiss.
The layer cake consists of a zesty lemon sponge covered with berry jam and lined with fresh raspberries.
The sponge is then coated in a fluffy rosewater buttercream and adorned with delicate rosettes.
Either of these sweet delights would be the perfect addition to a summer picnic.
Sweetly Scented ♡
I’m forever falling in love with pretty perfumes and my favourite from July is the Roger & Gallet Rose Mignonnerie Extrait de Cologne.
This is my first purchase from the brand and it has the most angelic aroma. The rose mignonnerie exudes the elegance of the Damask rose and waltz’ with the bursts of juicy mandarin.
The scent is from Roger & Gallet’s ‘les extraits’ cologne collection which is a range of fragrances that combine the freshness of a cologne and intensity of an eau de parfum.
One of my favourite details is the elegant soft pink packaging and I think it will look so pretty on my vanity.
My signature scent is ‘Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming’ but as I have almost run out of my current bottle I decided to purchase the roller pearl.
The silky pink liquid is encased inside an elegant glass bottle topped with a delicate pearl. ‘
‘Absolutely Blooming’ has top notes of sweet berries and at its heart, a sublime duo of Grasse and Damascus roses embraces a sensual peony accord. This infinite blooming bouquet of fresh flowers is comforted in a base of white musk notes.
A Flower Garden ♡
Late spring to early summer is the season for peonies and I couldn’t resist purchasing a beautiful bouquet of my favourite flowers. Their perfume is the sweetest and the bunch I selected are a soft petal pink shade.
Peonies are such a delicate flower and only bloom until late June. However, while they last they’re very lovely to gaze at and remind me of soft scoops of strawberry ice-cream. I chose to arrange mine inside my new pink vase from Melody Maison.
Lovely Literature ♡
There’s nothing more blissful than spending a summery afternoon wearing a pretty nightdress, curling up with a cup of fruit tea and reading a book. This month I have been enthralled by the tale of ‘A Little Princess’ by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
The (1995) film is one of my favourites and the story recounts the tale of a young girl named Sarah Crewe who lives life through her vivid imagination. Sarah is admitted to Miss Minchin’s boarding school in London. Upon arrival, Sarah appears to be a real-life princess; she is clothed in beautiful gowns, possesses gracious manners and is lavished with beautiful gifts from her father who is away in India. However, this is also a tale of hardship and I recommend it to any dreamers out there who prefer to live inside their own little world.
I feel so grateful to own this beautiful edition of the book; my dear friend Lesley was sent two copies of the book and kindly gifted me the other! It is encased in a light pink cover which is adorned with a sweet illustration of Sarah clothed in her pink evening dress. Inside this edition you will find beautiful illustrations by Tasha Tudor which are a wonderful accompaniment to the story line.
In addition to reading fanciful fiction, I have enjoyed applying the Miss Dior fresh body cream after a bubble bath.
This product is the pinnacle of luxe body care; encased in a beautiful glass jar you will find the delicately perfumed cream of your dreams. It has a light, yet nourishing texture which leaves the skin feeling as soft as a snowy swan. It also contains rose oil to help moisturise the skin.
I also like to apply the Dior ‘Hydra Life Pink Clay Mask.’ This mask is designed to cleanse the skin from impurities by minimising pores and leaving the skin velvety soft.
I applied the mask after completing my regular skincare regime; the air-whipped formula works into a foam and this is left on for three minutes. Once the skin is dry, I definitely saw a change in texture as my skin felt refined and clean.
I have always longed for a pretty nightdress that makes me feel like Audrey Hepburn and when I spotted this one I knew I had to buy it. It is made from the softest velvet material and it’s adorned with lace and a soft pink bow.
Pretty Purchases ♡
Dainty tea-ware is one of my weaknesses and I have dreamt of owning a set from Royal Albert for quite a few years.
When I spotted their summer sale, I decided to finally purchase a few items from their New Country Roses Pink range.
It features a classic rose design which is adorned with soft pink touches for an added girly elegance.
Each item is made from fine bone china; some of my favourite features are the gold rims and I think that any of the pieces from the collection could be mixed and matched to create the dreamiest girly tea party fit for a princess.
“Beautifully finished teapots will pour your favourite flavours into delicate teacups that rest atop of matching saucers for a modern decadence that boasts a youthful touch.”
I decided to purchase the ‘New Country Roses Pink Vintage Plate’ (20cm), ‘New Country Roses Pink Vintage Plate’ (27cm) and the ‘New Country Roses Pink Vintage Tea Cup and Saucer.’
Each piece arrived beautifully presented in Royal Albert’s signature pink packaging and I felt like a princess whilst I unwrapped each one. I have already had a cup of Marie Antoinette tea in the teacup and saucer alongside two macarons and it was delightful!
I definitely want to save up for the matching ‘New Country Roses Pink tea pot’ so that I can complete the set.
Ted Baker jewellery is the epitome of elegance and daintiness. The ‘Elenn’ rose enamel cuff in light pink has been on my wish list for quite a while but because it is from a collection released two years ago, it is quite difficult to find.
I was so overjoyed when I saw it listed on eBay in perfect condition. The design is so delicate and the pink enamel roses complement my outfits perfectly!
The Prettiest Pink Coat ♡
After selling my unworn clothing pieces and Marie Kondo-ing my bedroom (a room tour will be on my channel soon…), I got slightly carried away and purchased some new pretty pieces for my wardrobe. This included my dream pale pink trench coat from Hobbs.
I first saw this beautiful coat on Freddymylove’s youtube channel. It embodies a classic elegance which I’m always trying to epitomise; the horn-effect double-breasted buttons, epaulettes and storm flaps – are contrasted by the subtly feminine fit and flare silhouette, for a coat which is made for the modern woman. However, it was so difficult to find in stock in my size and in the correct colour. eBay has been like a best friend this month as I managed to find it for just £70.00 (its RRP is nearly £200.00.) When the coat arrived my heart fluttered like a butterfly from the excitement and I can’t begin to explain how delighted I was. Every detail is stunning and although the coat is rather large on me, the belt can be fastened into a bow and makes the piece look instantly structured and chic. I can’t imagine this trench coat going out of style and it’s something that will remain in my collection for years to come.
July Loves ♡
Film: Toy Story 4 ♡
Anyone that knows me well will be aware of my everlasting love for the Toy Story franchise. It was a delight but simultaneously bittersweet to watch the final film at the cinema with my mum. I decided to go all out and wear my Woody and Bo Peep VANS to the cinema and quite a few tears were shed. Seeing all my favourite characters again was so nostalgic and the films will definitely stay with me “to infinity and beyond…”
Favourite moment:A tea-party fit for Marie Antoinette ♡
After purchasing my pretty tea-ware from Royal Albert, I decided to have my own little tea party in my bedroom. I poured myself some Ladurée Marie Antoinette tea, and indulged in two macarons whilst watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Song: You Need To Calm Down ~ Taylor Swift ♡
I’m a dedicated Swiftie and this month I have been listening to the second single from her upcoming album ‘Lover’, on repeat. The song just epitomises summer and I adore the music video (it reminds me of the ‘Fabulous’ scene from HSM2.) I definitely want one of the pink sleep masks embroidered with ‘Calm Down.’
Blog post:‘Picture Perfect London: Visiting The New Peggy Porschen Chelsea Parlour’ ~ LoveCatherine ♡
I was so pleased to see my angel Catherine post on her beautiful blog. Her latest post, ‘Picture Perfect London: Visiting The New Peggy Porschen Chelsea Parlour’, has to be one of my favourites. It is filled with so many dreamy photographs of stunning pastel interiors, heavenly floral displays, decadent desserts and the sweetest cakes!
A few months ago I dedicated a post to my first visit to their Belgravia parlour.
Beauty item: Too Faced ‘Diamond Light’ Highlighter in ‘Diamond Fire’ ♡
“Diamonds are a girls best friend…” ~ This has to be the prettiest highlighter in my collection. The powder is the height of luxury with a diamond infused formula and rainbow pigments which will make you sparkle from the outside and shine like a gem.
When I spotted that this beautiful bag from Ted Baker was on sale I couldn’t resist purchasing it! The pretty soft pink shade is stunning and I adore the sweet bow detail adorning the front of the bag. I also decided to purchase a new jacket from Shein. I have been on the lookout for a lovely tweed jacket for quite some time and until I find my dream one, I thought I would purchase this one! I think it will be the perfect piece to style with my winter wardrobe.
Sweet treat: Betty’s raspberry and gooseberry macarons ♡
Dreaming of: My upcoming trip to Paris next April; I can just imagine myself sipping tea and indulging in Ladurée macarons, shopping in Chanel and Dior, wandering through Marie Antoinette’s boudoir in Versailles and twirling underneath the Eiffel Tower in my prettiest bow adorned dress ♡
Looking forward to: re-starting my ballet classes in September and booking my Sleeping Beauty ballet tickets in August ♡
I hope you enjoyed the first instalment of The Pink Pixie Diaries. I have to thank Catherine for inspiring this post and I wish you all a wondrous week filled with pixie dust and fondant fancies!
lots of love from,
Sophie Bethany Rose xo
