A Floral Affair ~ Gal Meets Glam Cherry Blossom Dress ♡

Hello my frosted fairies! Its the first day of spring and I’m so happy to see the arrival of Peggy Porschen’s ‘Blossom Bunny & Chirpy Chicks’ Easter range. They have us hopping into the sweetest season with a cute collection of springtime treats!

I’m particularly smitten with their ‘Blossom Bunny Cookie Box’ which features beautifully hand-crafted vanilla sugar cookies which are painted with blossom bunnies, pink tulips, spring blossom and Easter egg designs. I have also fallen in love with their ‘Speckled Egg Meringue Nests’; a set of soft pink meringues encasing a crunchy chocolate egg nest, cushioning pastel mini eggs and sugar blossom. Their ‘Easter Bunny Strawberry, Rhubarb and Custard’ cupcakes which are topped with a dreamy vanilla meringue buttercream and bunny decoration are also very tempting.

In my last post I shared with you the pretty purchases I made for spring. This included my Gal Meets Glam ‘Mary’ dress which is one of the dreamiest pieces in my wardrobe. Today I thought I would detail my favourite things about Gal Meets Glam and their darling dresses!

Julia Engel has been one of my style inspirations for quite a few years and when she launched her first collection last May, I couldn’t resist purchasing two princess dresses (which I discuss in this post.)

Julia releases a new set of dresses each month which she arranges into the sweetest look books! Each time a collection is released I end up falling in love with everything…

She is currently promoting her ‘March’ collection which is utterly divine! I have already added three pieces to my spring wish list which includes… the ‘Cecily’ dress which has a whimsical floral pattern, the ‘Evangeline’ jacket which reminds me of something from a Chanel Haute Couture show with its blush and ivory tweed design, and the vintage inspired ‘Elise’ dress. Every dress is adorned with feminine fabrics, soft silhouettes and classic details.

When I discovered I had won a dress from the November collection, I couldn’t believe it! I found it very difficult to choose one but when I saw the ‘Mary’ dress I immediately envisioned myself wearing it to an evening at the ballet in the spring.

Before I reveal my favourite features, I thought I would discuss how perfect the packaging is!

The dress arrived in a soft pink box, safely nestled underneath delicate, Gal Meets Glam tissue paper.

With your purchase you will also receive a card which is inscribed with a note from Julia herself!

I love how everything was carefully crafted and though through. It adds a personal touch which makes the unboxing experience so much more magical!

The ‘Pretty Pearl’ cherry blossom print initially drew me towards this dress as the soft fluttering of budding blossoms is one of my favourite things about spring.

The dress is made from a light satin material which reminds me of the kimono dresses worn in China.

The material has a pearly pink sheen which compliments my wardrobe wonderfully well. Due to the delicate, satin fabric, the dress needs to be dry-cleaned.

Another quality I adore is the elegant silhouette; it goes in at the waist and floats outward like a prom dress from the 1950s. Whenever I wear it I feel like Grace Kelly in Rear Window (1956) or High Society (1956.)

Allusions to the 50s are emphasised by the 3/4 length puffy sleeves which were very popular during that era. This sleeve design reminds me of the pink dress from Cinderella.

Consequently, this piece combines all the things I adore; Disney, soft pink, cherry blossoms and vintage style.

I think the ‘Mary’ dress would be the ideal article of clothing to wear to any spring fête, picnic or evening at the ballet. You could pair it with a white bolero if its cold and a pair of ballet flats.

If you are making your first Gal Meets Glam purchase, I urge you to do so! I am slowly building up my own collection of dreamy dresses and I shall treasure each one forever…

I hope you enjoyed this post blossom buns! I will have some more fashion-related posts on my blog in the future because aside from baking and ballet, it’s one of my main interests! I’d love to know if you have a favourite dress from Julia’s ‘March’ collection  and who your style icon is? Mine would have to be Audrey Hepburn as she always looked dainty, elegant and classic in everything she wore!

Lots of love,

  1. This post was so dreamy Sophie! I adore the whimsical cherry blossom print dancing its way through the delicate soft print colour of the dress. I love the nod to eras gone by as it makes the dress feel so vintage. I think that my favourite dress from the GMG March collection is Violetta as I love a white dress in spring/summer and the subtle floral print is so pretty and elegant. My style icons are of course Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Freddy Cousin Brown and you! Your girly, pink, floral, princess style is a great source of inspiration for me! Tilly xx

      1. I would love the ‘Violetta’ dress, however I don’t think I’m in a financial position to be able to at the minute, but one can keeping dreaming! Hopefully I will find a similar one if not of quite the same quality on the high street! Thank you for replying to my comment, it really made my day xx

      1. That sounds like a wonderful idea, I am headed to London with my mum to visit the Christian Dior: designer of dreams exhibition and we are going to make a trip to the parlour so hopefully I can sample one or two of the treats! I feel like a trip to London is no longer complete without a trip to Peggy Porschen! Xx
