Hello my frosted fairies! I think we can all agree that retail therapy is essential and completely valid once in a while. A few weeks ago I faced the dilemma we all dread when my beloved cleanser and moisturiser ran out at the same time! Can anyone else relate to this? It always seems to happen simultaneously. Consequently, I felt it was perfectly justifiable to splurge on some new products. Alongside skincare, I also purchased an adorable bow-detail jumper and a bouquet of peonies, my favourite flowers!
I think it’s important to remind ourselves that self-care is not “selfish.” When things are difficult or overwhelming, it is completely acceptable to treat yourself to something that makes you smile. Nevertheless, these sources of joy aren’t always material. They can be simple like, taking time to engage in your favourite hobby (I enjoy sewing, yoga, baking and reading in my spare time) or make yourself a soothing cup of tea and curl up with your favourite book. It’s so important to schedule in some ‘me time’ and I am totally guilty of forgetting to incorporate this into my daily routine.
Shopping is a past time that instantly makes me feel better and when my new set of skincare products arrived at my door, I squealed with excitement! I truly believe that nothing beats ending your day with a bubble bath, followed by changing into a cosy pair of pyjamas and having a little pamper session. Your skin will appreciate and thank you for it!
Clarins is a brand I constantly go to when it comes to skincare. For many years I have sworn by their Daily Energiser Cream as my everyday moisturiser. Yet despite my love for this product, I really wanted to alter my routine and try something different. I opted for the Multi-Active Day Cream for dry skin. From the beautiful pink packaging to the dreamy texture of the cream, this moisturiser is so luxurious and leaves my skin feeling so soft. Containing Myrothamnus, this moisturiser works to reduce the impact of daily stress by keeping the skin smooth and radiant. It also attempts to diminish the early signs of ageing, restore radiance, hydrate and maintain younger looking skin.
Whenever I use a primer, I find that my makeup lasts longer, glides smoothly onto my skin and everything becomes seamless! My favourite primer is Benefit’s Porefessional but after hearing so many positive reviews on the Clarins SOS primer, I decided to order it in the shade ‘Rose.’ (Admittedly, I did buy this partly because the dusty pink packaging made me swoon.) There are many different shades to choose from and they work to counteract a myriad of problems you may be facing. ‘Rose’ primarily aims to counteract fatigue; this is ideal for me as my skin is often very dull and tired-looking. It is described as a “rose-tinted concealer” which “diminishes all signs of fatigue and revitalises the complexion in a flash.” The addition of organic sea lily extract provides hydration and due to its fine, weightless texture, your skin is still able to breathe.
I have always wanted to try out the brand Origins and when I ran out of my ‘Purity’ Philosophy cleanser, I decided to order their ‘Original Skin Makeup Removing Jelly with Willowherb.’ The baby pink packaging is so darling and matches my other skincare products beautifully. Once applied to the skin, the cleanser melts away into a milky consistency and smells divine. I have very dry and dull skin, but after using this cleanser, my skin felt well and truly pampered!
Anyone that knows me well will be aware of my penchant for bows. Over the past six months, I have accumulated so many items with bow detailing (bags, scarves, gloves, dresses and jumpers…)
When I spotted this cute jumper on the ASOS website, I immediately added it to my basket. The jumper is the prettiest pale pink colour, with a cold shoulder design and two bow ties on each side. The knit is so cosy and I’ve been styling it with my favourite baby pink scalloped skirt from Ted Baker.
Nothing brightens up my day like a bouquet of fresh flowers. I adore peonies and they have been my favourite flowers for years. I always make sure to pick up a bunch during the summer months as they only bloom from May to June. A few weeks ago I purchased an arrangement of pink and white peonies from M&S and they make me smile whenever I see them.
I really hope you enjoyed this blog post my little pixies! I’m planning on writing a few non-baking posts so please let me know in the comments section if you have any ideas for future posts.
I hope you have a week filled with strawberry shortcake, candy floss and fairy dust!
