Hello my frosted fairies! I hope you are having a lovely day. A week ago today, I finally turned 20. I still can’t believe that I’m no longer a teenager and in all honesty, it felt like I would be in my teens forever. I definitely don’t feel prepared for adulthood in the slightest. Most of the time I feel like a strange combination of an 80-year-old and an 8-year-old. On the one hand, I’m obsessed with all things Disney, I still like to watch Angelina Ballerina, and I fawn over cute animals like bunnies and guinea pigs. Simultaneously, I pretty much live in my pastel cardigans, I’ve never been to a club or out drinking and I’d rather have an early night and cosy up with a book and a cup of tea.
The day began early as me and my dad had booked a table at the Kitty Café in Leeds. I was so eager to go (as a lover and owner of a beautiful kitty, Fluff) and meet the adorable kittens. Upon entering the café, we were seated straight away and I was delighted to see all the cats playing and roaming around freely. Luckily, where we were seated was probably the best place for interacting with the kittens. Once we’d settled down, me and my dad ordered our drinks. I opted for the ‘Fairy Princess’ fruit tea, which had a refreshing lemon and strawberry flavour and arrived in the most adorable pink Pusheen tea-pot. The time limit of an hour flew by so fast! It was so relaxing to watch the kittens play and pet them. My favourite kitten, Cookie, snuggled up in the crook of my dads arm and fell asleep – it was probably the sweetest thing I’ve seen in a long time!
After our time in the café we strolled along to the Pandora store and my dad was so kind and gifted me with my dream charm bracelet and an Aurora charm to start my collection. I was so overwhelmed with joy and I feel very grateful. I know that I will treasure this bracelet for many years to come and I still can’t believe I own a Pandora bracelet.
Later on in the day, my mum and I went to see Lily James’ new movie, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I had been wanting to watch this film for quite a while and I was so overjoyed to finally see it! The story was endearing, heartbreaking and of course, classically British! I don’t want to give too much away but I will give a brief synopsis if you’re at all intrigued. The plot centres around Juliet Ashton (Lily’s character), who is trying to make her place in the world as a writer but is struggling with being recognised. After hearing about a covert literary society on the Island of Guernsey, that formed in WW2 during the German occupation, she becomes prompted to learn more. Consequently, she becomes entwined with its members and their histories. She wants to write about their experiences of the war but as she gets closer to these individuals, it becomes a lot more troublesome.
I wasn’t sure whether to include my presents in this blog post but I put up a poll on my Twitter account, asking whether anyone would be interested in seeing the gifts I received, and the response was overwhelmingly positive, so here it is!
P.S I must warn you that the majority of the gifts I received are pink and from Ted Baker 🌸🎀🙊 and I must also remind you that this post is not intended to appear as though I’m bragging. I honestly don’t think I was worthy of receiving even one present this year. My parents work very hard and are the kindest people I know and I am truly thankful and blessed to have these enchanting presents!
I was so overjoyed to open the Viktor and Rolf ‘Flowerbomb’ perfume. This fragrance has been on my wish list for quite a few years. Admittedly, I was originally drawn to its packaging which is so sweet and classic. The scent itself is very dreamy and described as an “explosion of floral sensations”, containing an array of floral scents including, “Centifolia Rose, Sambac Jasmine, Cattleya Orchid, India Osmanthus.” I can’t wait to wear this throughout spring and summer.
Alongside the gift of perfume, my brother kindly gave me a bouquet of pink roses. This particular bouquet is scented and wrapped up in adorable, pale pink tissue paper. The scent filled my room for days and they never fail to brighten my day when I look at them.
As I mentioned earlier, my dad presented me with two lovely pieces from Pandora. The first item was the Moments Silver Bracelet With Heart Clasp. This was my favourite charm bracelet from the collection as whilst it has a simple design, it also has the heart clasp; making it unique but still classic. For my first charm, I selected the Aurora Dress Charm. I knew that I wanted this to be my first charm as Aurora is my favourite Disney princess and pink is my favourite colour!
Most of you are probably aware that my favourite clothing brand is Ted Baker. When the Back To The Fuchsia range launched, I instantly fell in love. Everything is pink, frilled and scalloped and if I could, I would own everything! My parents kindly gifted me my dream skirt and top. Both items are in gorgeous, pastel pink shades and I can’t explain how darling they look together. A few of my favourite details are the rose gold zips and buttons! I can already tell that I’m going to be styling these two pieces throughout summer.
I have been wanting to decorate my bedroom with pretty prints which I can frame and display. When I saw this ballerina print on Catherine’s blog, I couldn’t resist letting my mum know about it. Dance is so close to my heart and I did it for seven years. I miss it everyday and one of my main goals it to be able to re-start lessons and do ballet again. I thought this picture would be a lovely reminder of what I’m missing and help keep me going!
The last gift I received was an adorable baby pink button necklace from Ted Baker. I’m definitely fond of simple and delicate jewellery pieces. I think this necklace will look so sweet with any of my outfits and the rose gold detailing adds a lovely touch!
Overall, I had such a special birthday and I feel ever so grateful for everything I received. I really hope you enjoyed this blog post. It’s something quite different for me so please make sure to let me know in the comments section if you would like to see more blog posts that aren’t baking-related. I’m wishing you a blissful Bank Holiday weekend filled with candy floss, bunnies and strawberries and cream cupcakes! 🌸🍰🎀🐇
Lots of love,
