Happy Valentine’s Day my frosted fairies! Love is in the air, delicately wrapped flowers have been delivered, soft pinks are in abundance and cupid has launched his arrow. Whether you’ve decided to spend the day with that special someone, have a candlelit evening in baking treats with your favourite girls or you’re going to curl up and watch your favourite romantic film with a hot chocolate overflowing with marshmallows, it’s important to spend some part of your day pampering yourself because you do deserve it! Repeat after me: “self-care is not selfish!”
My fairytale Valentine’s Day would definitely be a day out with my mum; getting dolled up in my favourite pale pink bow detail dress from Ted Baker, going to see the Romeo and Juliet ballet at the Royal Opera House, followed by Afternoon Tea at Ladurée and then a spot of retail therapy. Nevertheless, if like me, you’re spending most of today tucked up inside from the bitter cold, I have a relaxing pamper evening planned which should leave us feeling well rested and looked after! ♡
The first step to my pamper routine would definitely be purchasing your favourite flowers. There is something about the scent of a fresh bouquet of pink roses or peonies which immediately lifts my spirits. They can instantly brighten a room and make a nice addition on top of a princess vanity.
This is something I love to do every evening because I find that it’s the only way that I can start to unwind from my day. Tonight I am going to use the ‘Tisty Tosty’ bath bomb from LUSH’s Valentine’s Day collection. This is one of my all-time favourite products from LUSH and I adore its limited edition pink colour. Once placed into the water, rosebuds emerge from the heart and notes of geranium, jasmine and lemon make the experience rejuvenating. Whilst in the bath I love to use a body wash. The Baylis & Harding ‘Rose Prossecco Fizz’ body lotion and body wash are my two new favourites. They smell divine and leave the skin feeling smooth and nourished. After applying your favourite lotions, I find that getting into your favourite pair of pyjamas feels so blissful. Make sure to get as cosy as possible and snuggle up under a bundle of soft blankets.
Lighting your favourite candle will help to centre your thoughts and make your room smell divine. I adore the Lily Flame ‘Blush!’ candle. Its subtle floral notes help to create a calming, relaxed atmosphere.
There is nothing better than a fresh manicure! It’s definitely the best kind of pick me up. I always have an Essie shade on my nails and my favourite has to be ‘Vanity Fairest’;it’s a soft ballerina pink with hints of iridescent glitter that shine in the light. Whilst my nails are drying, I find that the best distraction is to watch a film. My two picks for this evening are Valentine’s Day and The Notebook.
During your film you could even have a couple of your favourite indulgent treats. A few Lindt Strawberries and Cream Truffles or Charbonnel et Walker Pink Champagne Truffles would go perfectly with a marshmallow hot chocolate. If you have time earlier in the day, you could bake some Valentine’s Day themed bakes and cakes – I have two recipes on my blog showing you how to make adorable Romantic Rose Cupcakes and a set of cute, Alice In Wonderland inspired Jam Heart biscuits.
Once my nails have dried I find that because my hands are free, I can move onto doing my skincare routine. A skincare staple for my Valentine’s Day pamper evening has to be the Dior Capture Totale, DreamSkin 1-Minute Mask. It never fails to leave my skin feeling smooth and soft and its pale pink packaging is fit for a princess!
I already have a post dedicated to my top gifts for Valentine’s Day and I think that it’s completely acceptable to purchase something you have been lusting after for a while. My new bow sleeve jumper from New Look arrived earlier today and I couldn’t resist putting it on ~ it’s so soft and pretty, I’m completely in love!
I try to make sure that at least half an hour before bed, I log out of my social media accounts and switch off from the digital world. Although I love to catch up on what the world is up to, the internet is also very overwhelming and anxiety provoking. Reading something light-hearted is always the way to go. At the moment I’m loving the Sophie Kinsella ‘Shopaholic’ series. I recently finished ‘Shopaholic to the Rescue’ and I’m onto reading ‘Shopaholic Ties the Knot.’ The way in which Kinsella writes is addictively funny, (I swear I laughed out loud every few pages) and so relatable! Rebecca Bloomwood is my idol. Aside from fiction, I love to delve into the fashion world and read my favourite magazine, Harper’s Bazaar. March’s cover features the angelic Rosie Huntington Whiteley.
That’s it my lovelies! I really hope you enjoyed this post and make sure to let me know in the comment section down below what you plan to do later this evening for Valentine’s Day!
Lots of love
