Happy New Year my frosted fairies! I hope that 2018 has treated you well so far. I know that the start of a fresh year can be a time of great excitement and anticipation for all the wonderful things in store. Yet, it can also fill many with a sense of anxiety. Especially if 2017 wasn’t all rainbows and star-dust! (I can completely relate to this feeling.) Anyway, a baking post is currently in the works and in the mean time, I took to Twitter and posted a poll asking whether anyone would be interested in seeing a ‘What I Got For Christmas’ post. With 86% responding positively, I thought I would share with you some of the wondrous treasures I was gifted with this year.
Personally, I adore seeing what other people received for Christmas and I’m so devastated that the festive season is over (I took down my beautiful Nutcracker themed tree yesterday) and I guess, in some way this post is a way for me to reminisce and make the festivities last a little bit longer. I have already started planning January’s blog posts and I can’t wait for you to see them! Truthfully, even though I adore Christmas, I can’t begin to explain my excitement for Spring (my favourite season) ~ bunnies, pastel dresses, Easter baking, pretty flowers in bloom, evenings at the ballet, my birthday and cherry blossom 🌸🍃🐣🍰
Before I go on another ramble, I want to emphasise that I’m so grateful for what I have been given this year and I am not bragging in any way! P.S there is an overarching theme encompassing these gifts ~ they’re either pink or rose gold and most of them have a bow design! 🙊🎀
I have been lusting over so many pieces on the Kate Spade website for a few years now but I have never purchased anything for myself. All their items complement my classic, girly style and when I saw this bow scarf in ‘rose dew’ and the Cameron Street Jewelled Hope handbag, I fell in love.
I recently wore them when I went to see The Greatest Showman at the cinema with my mum. I truly felt like a pink, winter snowflake! Bows are a complete obsession of mine. I couldn’t resist the subtle bow detailing displayed on the handbag and when I saw that the matching gloves were on sale, I immediately made a cheeky Boxing Day purchase! I’m definitely an advocate of coordinating outfits! Now I have the perfect, girly winter warmers 🎀
Ted Baker |Bowsi Bow Embellished Jumper in Pale Pink
And…the bow obsession continues? Yes, you would be correct! There’s nothing better than a new jumper at Christmastime and this cosy knit from Ted Baker is no exception. The jumper is a cashmere blend, making it ultra soft and snuggly for those crisp January walks. The pearl and beaded embellishments make it stand out from your typical winter knit.
I’m not usually one to ask for makeup, I usually prefer to be gifted clothing or jewellery. Nevertheless, the Dior milky tint in ‘Milky Pearl’ was on my beauty wish list for the majority of 2017. I don’t like wearing heavy makeup and I always opt for something “barely there” on my lips. I have already tried the Dior Addict Lip Glow and I swear by it. When I saw the milky tint featured on Catherine.mw’s Instagram, I had immediate heart eyes for it (her recommendations are the best.) The product goes on as a light gloss and would be perfect over the top of your favourite muted pink lipstick (maybe MAC’s ‘Creme Cup’ or ‘Angel’?) The second product was actually a gift to myself from the Boxing Day sales. I noticed that this Lancôme blush, which I had been lusting over, was on sale for less than £15.00! The texture is so soft and buttery, leaving the skin with a satiny sheen; remnant of a sugar-plum fairy! ✨🍬 The packaging is so sweet too and reminds me of a petit macaron from Ladurée.
Opening this present came as a complete surprise as I hadn’t even put it on my list! My mum knows me so well and understands that if it’s rose gold or from Ted Baker I will always adore it. The necklace itself is a dainty rose gold pendant with tiny Swarovski crystals embedding the heart.
Oliver Bonas |Pink Velvet Cosmetic Bag
Beauty and the Beast |Belle Dome Gift Set
Jack Wills | Paris Faux Fur Headband in Pink
The last few gifts I received from my parents were… a sweet as can be, velvet cosmetic case from Oliver Bonas. I’ve been in need of a new makeup bag and this one will go wonderfully well with the rest of my pastel pink and floral bedroom. I was also presented with this Beauty and the Beast ‘Belle Dome’ gift set which is filled with adorable bath time treats; a ‘Enchanted Rose’ soap, body wash, body lotion and hand cream! Rose is my favourite scent, so I can’t wait to try them out on a pamper evening. Finally, I was given the fluffiest pale pink, faux fur headband from Jack Wills. I have lived in my fluffy earmuffs all winter so I know that I will definitely be wearing this piece throughout January and February.
I sincerely hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a magical New Year. Make sure to leave a comment below letting me know what gifts you gave and received. P.S remember to return to my blog at the end of the week for a new baking post!
Lots of love from Sophie
